In 2017, the anthropologist Josep Almudéver Chanzà returned to his home village in València, Spain, and found, beneath the pageantry of processions, festivities and pilgrimages, an overlooked social world sustained by women and queer men quietly carrying the Church into the future.

Alongside his book, Women Leaders, Queer Faithful (Bloomsbury), this zine traces the intimacies, contradictions and stories of these unexpected custodians of contemporary Catholic devotion.
